Mixed Bean Hummus & What’s To Come

MIXED BEAN HUMMUS

I have been snacking away on this hummus since I made it. You can for sure make it with just regular chickpeas but I had a can of mixed beans open and wanted to try something different.

If you are going to use canned beans and or chick peas please buy a good organic brand and make sure the can is BPA free and that there are no preservatives in the can – REMEMBER – READ ALL LABLES!

The recipe for the Mixed Bean Hummus is below and below that I talk about what is to come for you.

Here is the tahini that I use. You can also get raw tahini but I happen to like the taste of this one the best.

MIXED BEAN HUMMUS

  • 1 1/2 Cup canned mixed beans (yes you can start from dry and then soak and boil them. The 1 1/2 C would be measured after they are cooked and cooled). The mixture I used contained chick peas, white beans, kidney beans and 1 other kind of light coloured bean. YES YOU CAN USE JUST CHICKPEAS

  • 2 1/2 Tbsp of tahini

  • 3 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil

  • 3 1/2 Tbsp lemon juice

  • 1 very small clove of garlic – NOTE: start with less then add more as you go. I don’t like too much garlic (as it is raw) so go to your taste

  • 1/4 C chopped celery (not usually in hummus but I added it) – optional

  • 2 small green onions (not usually in hummus but I added them too) – optional

  • 1/2 tsp cumin

  • 1/4 tsp paprika

  • 1/8 – 1/4 tsp salt

  1. In a food processor place the cooked beans.

  2. Pulse until mixed a bit.

  3. Add celery, onions, garlic, oil, tahini and lemon

  4. Process until quite smooth – stopping frequently to scrape sides of processor

  5. Then add your spices – cumin, paprika and salt

  6. Process until smooth – taste and adjust spices to taste

You may want to add more lemon or more oil – remember to trust your taste buds – you want it to taste good to YOU!

Now if you do make this hummus from mixed beans – BEWARE – if you are not used to eating beans this may cause you to be a bit gassy.  Just warning ya!

There is not a lot out there to help women through this phase – at least to educate and assist and support with the changes that need to be made. FOR SURE what you eat needs to be tweaked.

I do give you lots of great, healthy and delicious recipes which are easy to make.

Knowing what FOODS to add and what foods to let go of is so important!!! As well as knowing what works best for you.

Other things that will be covered in the program:

  • What you can do to lessen the symptoms and even alleviate some of them

  • How to decrease stress, anxiety and emotional overwhelm

  • How to free up more time for you

  • You will delve deep into what your values are and when you start living by those – you make decisions easier, you plan your activities easier, you find spare time, you know what is right for you, you are more focused, less stressed and feel more joy every day!

  • How to know what foods are right for you, how to prep and plan so you can eat healthy all week

AND……anything else that comes up during the 8 weeks. I really gear the program to the participants and what is important for them and what they want to learn and know. This will be an online group program.
