HOLA From Puerto Morelos Mexico
I am starting my 4th day here and it actually feels like I have been here for at least a week or more. I found a great place to stay. It is quite large, has a full kitchen (large fridge and stove) that also has a table and chairs. 2 double beds and a pretty decent washroom. It is not 5 star by all means. Very simple, basic and I got it for a good price. Considering it is high season – I am happy about that. It is 5 minute walk to the beach and 10 minutes to the main part of town. (you can also walk all the way down the beach to the town square)

Create the Life You Really Want
Do you sometimes feel lost? Not sure what you really want? Not even sure who you are anymore? Do you go through your day feeling like you are in a fog?
Are you so busy with your day-to-day activities that you don’t take time to dream or imagine what you really want? Do you even doubt that anything else is possible? Maybe your kids are grown, your spouse does their own thing and you have stopped having fun and doing things together.
Or maybe they don’t want to do what you want to do and you don’t want to do it alone – so you just don’t do it. You figure “what’s the point, I don’t really want to do it alone so I will do it later, next week, next month, next year.” Will the the time every come? Really?
Does your heart feel empty? Have you lost your youthful glow? Do you experience more headaches or other symptoms than you ever have before? If any of these things speak to you – I COMPLETELY understand. I have been there.
That is how I felt, that is why I am spending a month in Mexico even though some people think I am crazy. For about 3-4 months I have been feeling worse and worse. I could not figure out what was wrong with me. I began taking a lot of supplements and trying various things. I eat and drink healthy but I was looking horrible. I had bags and dark circles under my eyes, I was tired, I looked much older, I had headaches, congestion and a big case of the “blah’s” most of the time.
As time passed I was getting more worried. Here I am helping people get healthy and vibrant and I was not feeling that way myself (most of the time). What was wrong? Well, after being here I can tell you that for me, it was that I was not doing what I really wanted to do (as in I told myself that I would live and work in warm tropical places and by 50 I figured it should have already happened). Also my relationship, etc, etc. But I do love what I do (which is helping you!!).
My body and intuition were YELLING at me to MAKE A CHANGE! I somehow knew that if I didn’t soon make a change and go after what I wanted (even a small step towards it) that I would end up very sick.
I believe that emotions can cause disease. There is a ton of proof about this. I believe it because I was FEELING IT! Now – I feel alive again, I feel free, I feel happy, I feel grateful, I feel creative, inspired, motivated, my skin looks better, no more big bags under my eyes. I am happy.
(I did have a migraine Wednesday but I think it was emotional as I had just committed to staying her until the end of the month – big decision for me.)
Of course I am not saying that taking off to Mexico (or another warm climate) is for everyone. But …… you need to:
FIND WHAT IS RIGHT FOR YOU!
Just as I believe everyone needs to find the perfect diet for them (as in the foods they eat)
In the video I speak about Danielle LaPorte’s work and a bit about her philosophy (you can find her on YouTube also). She speaks about “DESIRE” and getting to the FEELING” of what you really want to experience every day. Here are some things you can do now:
- Write out a list of 3-4 feelings that you wish to feel. (We want things because of the feeling they give us). For example: vibrant, healthy, joyful or love, energetic, creative, passionate, or healthy, fit, confident, sexy.
Then do things during the day that make you feel that way. You could even pick just 1 and feel it consistently throughout the day.
- Sit, relax, reflect, breathe, go for a walk. Feel your body and your heart. What do you really desire? Not just what you think is possible, but if you could have/do/be anything – what would it be?
- Notice when you are daydreaming – where does your heart and thoughts drift to? What feels good to you?
- Take a step each day that is getting you closer to what you really want and what you want to feel each day.
- Start a vision board (I know this may sound so early “2000″ but I have one on my computer and printed on a piece of paper and amazing!!!! Somethings have happened that are pretty funny and I still can’t believe it. So it really works!! I did a slide presentation in iMovie with mine and I also have some of the pictures on my desktop and I made one on paper – with pictures and then I wrote things on it – just on a regular size paper and printed it out.
It may seem like your ideal life is so very far away, but you know what? If you don’t start working towards it – it will always remain far away.
For those that are already very happy with your life

You could inspire and help a lot of people with your story. Because… everybody’s view of happy, successful, fulfilling or wonderful is different.
Yes, happiness is an inside job. But I also know that staying in a situation you are not happy with – that can mean a job, a relationship, a city, a town, a house, anything – can decrease your spirit and your light.
For years I felt guilty and wrong for wanting something different (for me it was the freedom to live and work wherever I want). I had a “good life” and I should have been happy with what I had (and I was a lot of the time, don’t get me wrong). I kept telling myself that “I should be grateful and accept it, just as it is”. That “I should be happy where I was and that nothing or no one could really make me happy.” Which is of course true but I still felt like something was not quite wrong.
When I decided to move to Vancouver Island from Edmonton in 2001 (as it is the warmest place in Canada) that I was “running away from my problems”. And that “if you can’t be happy in Edmonton, what makes you think you could be happy somewhere else?” Have you ever heard something like that?
Well, when I moved to Vancouver Island – I LOVED IT!!! I still do, it is just not as warm in the winter as I would like. But a perfect home base for me.
I spent years feeling guilty for feeling like “something was missing” or “why do I want more or something else?”. “Why can’t I be completely happy with what I’ve got?” Then the whole law of attraction explode on the scene and ore and more people began to follow their dreams, change their lives and believe anything is possible.
We are meant to live our life in a way that really lights us up. We are meant to live our dream life! It is all the “stuff” that we grew up with (beliefs, programming, values) that stops us.
In my next post I will share with you some resources that I have found and are helping me move through my blocks and limiting believfs.
Yes, I will still talk about healthy eating and the “how-to do that”. But… you must know that it is also all related. If you have trouble eating healthy consistently, if you are always making excuses, quitting, etc, – it is probably a mind-set issue.
MY DAD AND MY PASSION FOR HEALTH
Update….my dad was doing well before I left and they were happy to stay in Osooyos and stay warm and cozy but I just heard from my sister and he is not doing that well right now. He will be around for a while yet for sure, but he is in pain. My heart just breaks. There is nothing I can do but send love and healing thoughts but it truly breaks my heart.
This is why I am so passionate about helping you all with your health as best as I can. Seriously – I want you to live a life of health and happiness for years and years to come. I have tried to talk to my parents about what they eat but it hasn’t worked. I am “not a doctor”. They listen to me but then will say “well the doctor said….”.
My dad has been told to not eat many greens for a long time now – UGH!! Because of medication he is on.
They have a diet of white bread, potatoes, meat, yogurt, white sugar, white flours, coffee, etc. And that is better than greens!! Yes, they do eat some veggies but still far too many acidic foods.
I have tried over the years…I now don’t fight or lecture about it. Still can’t believe the doctor does not talk about food at all (ok, yes I can) when my dad is full of pain and inflammation!
I continue to send him lots of love and healing energy. This is why I am so passionate about what I do. Why I do the blog posts, the videos, the programs, classes, workshops, e-mails.
Know that I do all of this because I really want you all to be healthy and happy as you age. It involves your mind, body and soul – emotions, energy around you, people you surround yourself with, the job you do, your throughs and what you say to yourself, the food you eat, the food you do not eat – it is all important.
