Broccoli Salad & Tahini Sauce

Making healthy eating simple for busy women is what  I am all about. Here is another simple, fast recipe for you that will hold up in the fridge for days! Gotta love that!

For this salad I blanched the broccoli as I am really liking it that way – maybe it is the cold winter days we are having.

We have had the craziest weather lately!!! I know that has been the same all over North America but I live in the warmest place in Canada and it just snowed 3 days!!! I swear we got about 3 feet of snow. It is finally melting like crazy today so I am happy!

NOW FOR THE VIDEO….. I put the sauce recipe under the video for you as the measurements for the salad part – do not really matter.


  • 2 Tbsp tahini (the one I used was not raw)
  • 2.5 Tbsp lemon juice
  • 3 Tbsp water
  • 1/8 tsp salt – in the video I may have put down 1/4 tsp – start with less
  • 1/8 tsp cumin
  • dash of cayenne

Start with Tahini and lemon juice. Stir until mixed. Then add water, stir until creamy. Then add the spices and stir – taste and adjust to taste.

You can store the dressing and salad separately or mix them together and it will last in fridge about 4 days.

If you are not sure if you will like this try a little dressing on the salad and see if you like it before adding all the dressing.

As I am writing this….I have just booked a flight to Mexico and leaving on Monday (Today is Thursday). I just booked it. Yes, I took action and did it. If you are getting my e-mails you would have heard the story of me and my parents but that has all changed. My parents asked me to cancel my flight to Kelowna as they are not going back to Alberta now as it is way too cold there. I don’t blame them. They have lots of friends and help where they are now and in Alberta they are pretty isolated.=

So this is the last How-To-Thursday video from this kitchen in a while. Who knows, maybe I will only be gone a couple of weeks. I didn’t buy a return ticket. I will be posting my adventure on my blog, Facebook Page (Raw Foods Made Simple), YouTube videos and Instagram – if I get used to using it, I just signed up.

Turning 50 really made me think – get to it! It is time for me to do things I really want to do. Stop complaining, stop saying “I can’t” or “it’s not a good time”. Stop saying “I will be happy when”.
