How can you eat fries if you are working on eating healthy? Well, I will tell you what I think about this. It may surprise you. I believe that if you eat healthy most of the time, then sometimes you an enjoy something “not so healthy” – whatever that might be for you.
I have followed a high raw diet before which was great for me at that time. Now I believed in more of a balanced diet. I LOVE healthy REAL food and so that is what I chose to eat most of the time. But I do not beat myself up or feel guilty if I “slip up” and have something that is not healthy.
I often find that people are “black and white” - maybe you can relate to this. You start on a healthy diet or exercise plan, then something happens to trip you up – like maybe family comes to visit for the weekend, or you have a BBQ or wedding and you end up eating the “bad foods” or foods that are heavy and fatty. So you figure since you “slipped up” then you might as well give up on the plan you were on. Or, you put it off – saying you will start next week, or next month – or even “after Christmas” – have you said that before?
We wouldn’t tell our kid who is learning to ride a bike that if they fall – well, you can try again in 2 weeks or next month – would you? Yet we do this to ourselves all the time. Doesn’t make sense – but – we do it.
