I loved the smell of fruit crumble in the oven when my mom used to make it – brown sugar, oats, butter, cinnamon…..mmmm…so I wanted to make a healthier version with some fresh peaches and local blueberries I had.
I usually do not use oat flakes but I wanted to still have the oaty (not really a word) flavour I used to enjoy in the cooked crumble version.
In the below version (which includes the recipe in the video) I make a Vegan Peach Blueberry Crumble (raw, not cooked). I used a peach and blueberries for the fruit and the crumble was oats, almonds, cinnamon and Medjool dates. Pretty simple and it was fast to make. Check it out.
What is great about this recipe is that it can be eaten as breakfast, a snack or as dessert. I thought afterwards that hemp seeds would be good added to the crumble also.
Other fruit could be used also and if you want more of a cooked texture, try putting this dish in the dehydrator (if you have one) for a few hours – I think it would be delicious!
