FRUIT POPS & FUDGSICLES – Make Your Own

All Natural Home-Made – All-Fruit Pops & Dairy-Free Fudgsicles

Growing up popsicles and fudgsicles were a big part of summer. My mom always had these in the freezer. When I was young there were not as many choices as there are now. Which actually made it easier for us to chose and we had our favourites.

I also remember the Ice Cream man – the music from his truck and the dinging of the bells from the ice cream bike – DO YOU REMEMBER THOSE? The kids would come out from everywhere – it was magical.

Having an ice cream treat or popsicle and running through the sprinkler – nothing like it! Now that was summer.

Now there are hundreds of frozen treats to choose from but… “what is in them”?

Since I get sick when I eat preservatives I haven’t had any of these for a long time. If I did have one I don’t think I would enjoy it as they would be so sweet! Way, way too much sugar and junk. The ice cream isn’t real – who knows what it is really made of.

With the hot weather we have been having I have longed for a cool popsicle but with all the sugar and food colorings in the bought popsicles I haven’t had one. For HOW-TO Thursday it was suggested that I make something like this so I did and I am so glad!

CHOCOLATE FUDGSICLE

  • ½ C cashews (soak for about 2 hours)
  • ½ C banana
  • ½ C water (may need a bit more)
  • ½ C blueberries
  • 2 Tbsp coconut oil
  • 2 Tbsp agave (or whatever sweetener you want or use more banana)
  • 2 Tbsp cacao powder (more if you taste and feel it needs more)
  • 1 Tbsp cacao nibs (you can add more cacao powder if you do not have the cacao nibs)

Blend in blender and pour into moulds. Fast and easy. These take all night or a whole day to freeze and then place tray in warm water until they loosen enough to take out. You may have a better way of doing this. My mom used to tip the tray upside down and run hot water over them.

I think these would be great using a raw chocolate pudding (made with avocado) also.

MIXED FRUIT POPS

  • ½ C water (use a little more if needed)
  • 1 C mixed fruit (I had a mix of strawberries, mangos, pineapple, peach)
  • 1 Banana
  • 1 Orange

Blend ingredients in a blender until smooth and pour into moulds. Follow same instructions as above.

COCONUT MANGO LIME FRUIT POPS

  • ½ C coconut chunks (or flakes) soaked in hot water (2 or more hours) or use real coconut
  • ½ C coconut water
  • Over ½ C mangos
  • 1 banana
  • 1 Tbsp coconut oil
  • Juice of 1 lime

Blend in blender until smooth and add to moulds. Follow instructions as above.

There are so many variations that can be made – be creative!
