Spiralizer for Raw Pasta and How To Use It

Raw pasta with zucchini is a fresh, light dish and perfect for summer. I love it with a fresh tomato marinara but it is also great with pesto sauce or a cashew cream sauce. In the video below I show you how to use the spiralizer and how to make a quick and easy fresh marinara sauce. I have posted the recipe for marinara below in this post.

This meal is so fast and easy – great for BUSY PEOPLE!

I brought my spiralizer out from hiding to do this video. I don’t use it that often – out of site, out of mind – and I forgot how fun it is to use. I made beet and carrot noodles once, that were really beautiful combined together, and made a creamy sauce for them.

You can also make noodles and curls for garnish and noodles and ribbons to add to various salads and dishes. Hmmm….Think I may do another video on showing you how it can be used in various ways.

If you are someone who likes to entertain you would love using one and I am sure come up with some very creative ideas.

This was a small recipe but you can double or triple it. Start with 1 batch, see how you like it and adjust spices, etc to your taste and then you will better know the ingredients you like in it. Before you make a larger batch.

  • 1 C diced tomatoes (was about 1 tomato)
  • 1 Medjool date soaked
  • ¼ clove of garlic (less or more according to your taste)
  • ¼ tsp dried basil or I suggest use fresh basil leaves
  • ¼ tsp Italian Seasoning (or Oregano)
  • ¼ tsp Herbs de Provence (I suggest Rosemary instead)
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • Pinch of cayenne (optional)
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Combine ingredients into a blender (or better if you have smaller blender like Magic Bullet or Nutri-Bullet unless you are making a large batch).

If you like this chunkier then pulse until well mixed. Taste, adjust spices (add if you feel it needs more of something). If you want it creamier then process longer.

You can mix noodles – like add carrot noodles or try other root vegetables.

Try adding ground sunflower seeds, cashews or brazil nuts with nutritional yeast and salt on top like a parmesan cheese. I grind them in a coffee grinder or my Nutri-bullet (magic bullet works also). I add the nutritional yeast and a bit of salt with the nuts or seeds when I am grinding.
