Eating Raw and Protein – The Protein Myth

“You eat raw foods? How do you get your protein?” I get asked this all the time and “Where is the protein in raw foods?”

Below is a cool video from a guy who calls himself The Lifegenerator. He didn’t always have a clean life and his past was full of bad foods, booze, etc. He is real an I think that is why I like him. Worth a watch – if you have ANY questions on raw food and protein.

People need to understand that when eating a high raw diet we are eating very nutrient dense foods. We are eating a ton of foods with amino acids (essential building blocks of protein) vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, essential fatty acids, trace minerals, phytochemicals, etc. The foods work together to supply the best source (plant) of these nutrients and protein. Our body LOVES live, plant based nutrients. It can utilize them better than any animal source.

If a person eats a high animal protein diet, along with bread, then some pizza with cheese (dairy), fake foods such as hotdogs, fast food, candy, etc how are they getting their nutrients? Sure they may be getting a ton of animal protein (or are they?) but where the heck are they getting their vitamins, minerals, calcium, amino acids, phytochemicals, trace minerals, etc from? If the only green they have in their diet is the wilted iceberg lettuce on their hamburger then they are NOT getting nutrition. They are probably suffering from malnutrition.

Some people question my diet and also because I am so slim. They worry that I am malnourished, don’t eat enough, do not get enough protein, calcium, etc. I beg to differ and I am probably healthier by far than any of them. But….everyone makes their own choices and I can only do what I think is best for me.

I NEVER get sick. My immune system is VERY strong. At 46 I weigh about 105 lbs – and I have muscle (I am 5 ft 2″). I weigh the same as I did when I was in my 20′s. Most women my age are gaining weight and may even be at the heaviest they have ever been. We have come to believe that is natural and it is expected and there is nothing we can do about it. That is not true, I am proof of that. It is ALL about what you eat and activity level. There are NO excuses.

I am very passionate about this because I see how bad our society eats and it is so frightening! What does the future hold for our children and us!! If people do not wake up and take responsibility what will their future be like.

I want you to think about something

  • WHAT DO YOU WANT YOUR LIFE TO TO BE LIKE AS YOU AGE?
  • WHAT DO YOU WANT TO LOOK LIKE?
  • WHAT DO YOU WANT YOUR HEALTH TO BE LIKE?
  • DO YOU WANT TO BE INDEPENDENT?  OR WILL YOUR FAMILY HAVE TO TAKE CARE OF YOU?
  • DO YOU HOPE TO TRAVEL IN THE FUTUR?
  • DO YOU WANT TO BE ABLE TO ENJOY YOUR GRANDCHILDREN?
  • DO YOU WANT TO CONTINUE TO WALK AND TO DRIVE YOUR CAR?

You think these questions are easily answered? Take a look around at some of the elderly people – with canes, with walkers, with scooters!!! Some are not even that old! How many people now have dementia, alzheimers, memory loss, confusion???? Do you want that to be you?

Reality will set in as you age – why wait until it is too late!!

TAKE ACTION NOW. Begin by taking little steps every day, each day. Consistent changes make a HUGE difference.

I may be preaching to the converted but hopefully some people who see this may be at the stage where they are wanting to make healthier choices but haven’t yet. Maybe you are one of the people who are emotionally and physically addicted to the “junky foods” that are out there. Please don’t ignore your health or one day you will not be able to ignore it because you will be in a hospital bed.
